Mary Jo Haselhorst is a Senior Financial Consultant in BFG’s Corporate Retirement Services department. She started working at BFG in 2007 after selling her consulting business.
Mary Jo's responsibilities include overseeing the delivery of excellent service to clients in the Retirement Planning division. She holds the highest certification in fiduciary management and specializes in helping employers develop and manage corporate retirement plans that use co-fiduciaries to minimize the business owner’s administrative work and potential legal liability. In addition, Mary Jo’s responsibilities include managing relationships with clients through ongoing communication and review meetings and co-chairing BFG’s Financial Consulting Committee, which evaluates products and services offered by the firm.
Mary Jo graduated from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. She is a former rocket scientist (civilian computer scientist designing missile software for the U.S. Navy with the Department of Defense) and has owned her own healthcare practice management company prior to working with BFG. Mary Jo acquired her Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) designation December 2009 from the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist Program, a joint program of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of Business. In 2010, she became an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) Designee through the Center for Fiduciary Excellence, the leader in fiduciary training. Upon completing the AIF® designation, she was named Senior Financial Consultant in the Corporate Retirement Services department.
When she is not at the office, Mary Jo enjoys cycling, running, wakeboarding, and spending time with family.
